Step by step guide to automate Scaleway server snapshots
Prerequisites
- A SimpleBackups account (https://simplebackups.com/)
- A Scaleway account
- Your Scaleway API credentials (We'll cover how to get these)
Steps
- Obtain Scaleway API Credentials
- Log in to your Scaleway console (https://console.scaleway.com/).
- Navigate to the "API Credentials" section in your Profile Menu dropdown.
- Click "Generate new API key".
- Give your key a description.
- Copy and store both the Access Key and Secret Key securely.
- Connect Scaleway to SimpleBackups
- Log in to your SimpleBackups account.
- Click on "Create Snapshot".
- Go to "Connect a new provider" section.
- Select "Scaleway" from the list of providers.
- Enter a descriptive name for your Scaleway connection.
- Paste your Scaleway Access Key and Secret Key.
- Select your desired region.
- Click "Save".
- Create a Snapshot Job
- Select your newly created Scaleway provider.
- Resource Type: Choose "Server" (this includes all attached volumes).
- Resource: Select the specific Scaleway server you want to back up.
- Schedule: Define how often you want the snapshots to be created (e.g., daily, weekly).
- Retention Policy: Set how many snapshots you want to keep before older ones are deleted.
- Click "Create Snapshot".
That's it! SimpleBackups will now automatically create snapshots of your selected Scaleway server according to your defined schedule.
