Step by step guide to automate Amazon RDS database provider.

 

In these steps, we will create access key on Amazon RDS that will allow us to automate Amazon RDS database backups from SimpleBackups dashboard.

Step 1: Obtain Amazon RDS API Credentials

  1. Go to https://console.aws.amazon.com/iam/home#/security_credentials.
  1. Navigate to “Access keys” section.
  1. Click on “Create access key”
  1. Copy the generated Keys to somewhere safe.

Step 2: Create Amazon RDS Provider on SimpleBackups

  1. Afterwards, create a new provider on SimpleBackups with your Amazon RDS API Keys by going to the database backup page and click add on the “Connect your DBaaS Provider” section as shown.
  1. Select Amazon RDS from the Provider dropdown list, enter a name for your Amazon RDS account, then paste the Access key and the Secret access key we obtained in the previous step and click save provider.
