Easily leverage your DigitalOcean account into a strong backup storage. Enjoy hourly backup for your websites and databases.
Let's view together how to store your website or database backups on your personal DigitalOcean Space.
Create DigitalOcean Spaces Credentials
It is easy to create an access key and a secret key for your DigitalOcean Spaces to add them to your SimpleBackups account.
In this tutorial I will highlight the steps to follow and also provide some screenshots afterwards for additional help.
Simply follow the following steps:
- Log in to your DigitalOcean Spaces account or go directly to https://cloud.digitalocean.com/spaces
- Click Manage Keys on the right hand side of the Spaces screen or directly go to https://cloud.digitalocean.com/account/api/tokens
- Next to Spaces access keys, click Generate New Key then add a name for your key and click the check mark.
- A new Key and Secret will be generated. The shorter one is the Access Key and the longer one is the Secret Key. Use these two values when adding your DigitalOcean Spaces account to SimpleBackups.

If DigitalOcean has changed their UI or you can no longer create a new key by following this tutorial, simply email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or chat with us below and we will be glad to help.
Configure your DigitalOcean storage on SimpleBackups
Now let's simply head to your SimpleBackups account, and go to the "Create Storage" section.
Select "Digital Ocean Spaces" in the storage options. And fill in the setting form with the information you copied from your DigitalOcean account (we support all DigitalOcean regions).
To finalize the storage creation define the name you want to use (we usually use the bucket name there too).
And that's it, your DigitalOcean Space will now be available as a new storage.
